Ex-national security adviser John Bolton indicted in classified documents case
"intelligence about future attacks, foreign adversaries, and foreign-policy relations."
"There is one tier of justice for all Americans,"
"Anyone who abuses a position of power and jeopardizes our national security will be held accountable."
"retribution presidency."
John Bolton was indicted on 18 charges related to mishandling classified documents, including eight counts for transmission of national defense information and 10 counts of unlawful retention. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The Justice Department alleges Bolton illegally transmitted classified information using a personal email and messaging applications, including U.S. intelligence about future attacks, foreign adversaries, and foreign-policy relations. The indictment follows an FBI search of Bolton's suburban Washington home about two months earlier, where agents recovered documents marked classified, including references to weapons of mass destruction. Bolton served in the Trump White House for just over a year and later published The Room Where It Happened; the Trump administration sued to try to block the book's publication.
