"That doesn't exist," Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told Reuters when asked about DOGE's status, adding that it's no longer a "centralized entity."
""The truth is: DOGE may not have centralized leadership under @USDS. But, the principles of DOGE remain alive and well: de-regulation; eliminating fraud, waste and abuse; re-shaping the federal workforce; making efficiency a first-class citizen; etc. DOGE catalyzed these changes; the agencies along with @USOPM and @WHOMB will institutionalize them!""
""there are no prescribed reductions in headcount.""
The Department of Government Efficiency executed reviews of federal spending and payrolls earlier this year but no longer exists as a centralized entity. Office of Personnel Management has assumed many of DOGE's functions and several top DOGE officials have moved to other federal offices, including State, the White House budget office, HHS, and the Office of Naval Research. The federal government hired roughly 68,000 people this year while 317,000 employees left, exceeding the target ratio of reductions to hires. There are no prescribed reductions in headcount; the emphasis is on efficient, high-quality service delivery.
