"Dystopian": Trans radio host Ellie Krug explains what it's like in Minnesota right now - LGBTQ Nation
"Well, I mean, it is literally people who are masked, who have arsenals on their bodies, who are literally pulling people from their cars, or if you're an observer, either spraying you with pepper spray or just pummeling you to the ground. This is like the kind of stuff you expect in a communist country, or a country that's going through a civil war. It's not what you would expect here in Minnesota."
"Trump thinks that he can get away with it because people think in Minneapolis there are all these radical liberals who accept criminals in their midst and want to coddle them. But what people don't understand is that ICE is throughout the state of Minnesota, out in greater Minnesota. This is red country. It's everywhere. There was a video out of St. Peter, 70 miles south of the Twin Cities."
Ellie Krug, a transgender radio host, lawyer, and author based in Victoria, Minnesota, is an eyewitness to armed ICE raids occurring across the state. Armed ICE agents have conducted raids beyond Minneapolis, operating throughout greater Minnesota and in conservative 'red' counties. Tactics include masked agents with firearms pulling people from cars, spraying bystanders with pepper spray, and physically assaulting observers. A video from St. Peter shows agents emerging from vehicles with guns pointed at a woman who was following them at a respectful distance. The presence of ICE in small towns has created fear and chaotic scenes more characteristic of conflict zones than of typical American communities.
