Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey has made opposition to a street safety measure a central element of his Jersey City mayoral campaign and intensified attacks on front-runner James Solomon. McGreevey ran an ad citing StreetsPAC NJ's endorsement of Solomon and claiming Solomon supports converting two-way streets into one-way streets in the southern, more car-dependent areas. Solomon and street-safety advocates reject Mayor Steve Fulop's last-minute one-way proposal as rushed and badly planned and call for reworking the plan. Supporters accuse McGreevey of politicizing street safety ahead of a Dec. 2 runoff.
