Tina Kapoor was named Cupertino city manager by a unanimous City Council vote on Nov. 18 and assumed the position the following day. Kapoor brings nearly 25 years of local government experience from San José, Fremont and Cupertino, having served as interim assistant city manager, deputy city manager and economic development manager. She led major economic development initiatives that supported business growth, downtown revitalization and workforce development and was named a 2015 Silicon Valley Business Journal Woman of Influence. Kapoor immigrated from India in 1999 and is Cupertino's first Indian American city manager. She will oversee municipal operations, implement City Council policy direction and continue advancing Cupertino priorities while supporting the city team and collaborating with council and community to maintain service and develop a long-term vision.
