Contempt threat after Clintons refuse Epstein testimony
"Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences. For us, now is that time."
"There is no plausible explanation for what you are doing other than partisan politics."
"No one's accusing the Clintons of any wrongdoing," said Comer on Tuesday. "We just have questions."
Bill and Hillary Clinton declined to comply with subpoenas from the House Oversight Committee seeking questioning about their ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton did not appear for Tuesday’s questioning and Hillary Clinton said she will not appear on Wednesday. The Clintons characterized the GOP-led probe as legally invalid and partisan, asserting the subpoenas were intended to prompt imprisonment and vowing to forcefully defend themselves. Oversight Chairman James Comer warned of contempt proceedings and said investigators only have questions, not accusations of wrongdoing, while noting that the Clintons spent significant time with Epstein.
