Chris Hayes Laughs His Way Through Trump's Post About Accepting Secondhand Nobel Prize
"The president has long said he deserves the prize. It was my Great Honor to meet Maria Corina Machado, of Venezuela, today, Trump wrote on Truth Social. She is a wonderful woman who has been through so much. Maria presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you Maria!"
"I don't even know what I want you to say about this, Hayes told the lawmaker. But like what can you say? Well, if somebody gives him a Super Bowl ring, he'll be convinced he was the greatest football player who ever played in the NFL, Raskin replied. I think the idea here is that, like, if she gives him something, maybe he'll make her the president of Venezuela, the regime that he's now controlling? Hayes posited."
President Donald Trump met with Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado and accepted her Nobel Peace Prize, a prize Trump has long claimed he deserves. Machado said her party should lead Venezuela after Trump ordered the ouster of President Nicolas Maduro, but Trump rejected that idea, saying she lacks respect in the country and instead left Maduro's vice president Delcy Rodriguez in charge. Trump previously called Rodriguez a terrific person. MSNBC host Chris Hayes laughed while reading Trump's Truth Social post about the meeting during a conversation with Rep. Jamie Raskin, who mocked Trump's self-regard.
