British teenager goes missing on hike near Dracula's Castle in Transylvania
"Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story."
"Mountain rescuers are in a race against time to find a British teenager who went missing on a hike near Bran Castle in Romania. George Smyth, 18, was trekking in the Bucegi mountains alone on 23 November, when he started to suffer from hypothermia and exhaustion and called the emergency services. Mountain rescue services searched for Mr Smyth over the next few days but were only able to locate his rucksack containing his equipment and supplies in the area where he made the emergency call."
The Independent solicits donations to fund on-the-ground journalism, citing investigations into Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC and a documentary, 'The A Word', about American women fighting for reproductive rights. The Independent states a commitment to avoid paywalls and make quality reporting accessible to all, supported by readers who can afford to contribute. Separately, mountain rescuers are searching for George Smyth, an 18-year-old University of Bristol student who went missing while hiking alone in the Bucegi mountains on 23 November. Rescuers say he suffered hypothermia and exhaustion, made an emergency call, and rescuers later located only his rucksack. An appeal for information was issued by Salvamont Brasov and his mother has traveled to Transylvania to support the search. He reportedly set off from Poiana Brasov heading toward Bran.
