"Over the past month, the community there has continued to set an incredible example for the rest of us, demonstrating the power of uniting to protect our neighbours and defend what is right," she wrote."
"Last week, in Mexico, members of the Minnesota Bramily organised a vigil for Renee Good and the 32 people who have died in ICE custody since the beginning of 2025."
"Now, more than ever, it is vital that we continue to hold each other and take action to stop the hate that is spreading through our country."
"What affects one of us, affects all of us and we need to continue to look out for each other," the statement concluded."
Brandi Carlile established a $25,000 grant through the Looking Out Foundation to assist people detained by ICE in Minnesota. The grant will be awarded to The Advocates for Human Rights to provide free legal assistance to those in detention. Carlile expressed that she is heartbroken and angry about recent ICE activity in the state and praised local community efforts that unite to protect neighbours. Members of the Minnesota Bramily organised a vigil in Mexico for Renee Good and for 32 people who have died in ICE custody since early 2025. Carlile will share resources on community organising and how to contact local representatives.
