"In our consumer driven culture, when the cost of goods is soaring, one of the most radical things you can do is not to buy anything over Black Friday. That's the message from " Mass Blackout," a coalition of grassroots groups that are protesting the Trump administration's policies and urging you not to participate in this year's extended Black Friday sales. The "blackout" will start the day before Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26) until the day after Cyber Monday (Tuesday, December 2)."
"It's not the only holiday protest, either: There's also a second boycott underway targeting Amazon, Target, and Home Depot, called " We Ain't Buying It," happening around the same time. In fact, it's been a big year for boycotts, and some of them have been quite effective. For example, Target just r eported another lackluster quarter and declining sales partially due to customer backlash and a boycott from customers after a rollback of DEI policies."
Mass Blackout is a coalition of grassroots groups calling for a nationwide economic blackout from the day before Thanksgiving (November 26) through the day after Cyber Monday (December 2). The action asks people to stop online and in-store shopping except at small businesses, stop streaming, cancel subscriptions, and stop work if possible, while encouraging cash payments and local purchases if spending is necessary. A separate boycott called "We Ain't Buying It" targets Amazon, Target, and Home Depot. Recent boycotts have impacted corporate sales, and buy-local movements have grown in response to tariff and policy disputes.
