Billionaire Bill Ackman gives $10K to ICE agent who shot Renee Good
"My instinctual reaction to the media convicting someone before an investigation has begun let alone a trial and a determination by a court and/or jury is to be very open to the possibility that the accused is innocent, Ackman continued. When the tragic Ross/Good case blew up on X, I did not do any due diligence on the case other than quickly reviewing the handful of videos that were circulating online, he continued."
"I supported Ross because I knew he would need significant funds to cover his defense costs, he wrote. I supported the gofundme for Good's family as I thought that it was the right thing to do. Despite his intentions, Ackman said he has been widely reviled (and worse) by many on social and mainstream media for donating to Ross' fundraising campaign."
Bill Ackman contributed $10,000 to a GoFundMe supporting ICE agent Jonathan Ross and explained the donation stemmed from a presumption of innocence after quickly viewing circulating videos. The GoFundMe created by Clyde Emmons had raised nearly $700,000 from more than 14,000 donors. Ackman said he has previously invested substantial funds for legal defenses of people he believed were innocent and intended to support a separate fundraiser for Renee Nicole Good's family, though that campaign had already met its $1.5 million goal. Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, was killed when an ICE agent shot into her vehicle in Minneapolis on Jan. 7, 2026. Ackman said he faced intense backlash on social and mainstream media, with critics accusing him of rewarding a murderer, and noted he endorsed President Trump in 2024.
