'Batman' blasts Bay Area city council over ICE's involvement in Super Bowl
""What the f-k are we doing here?" ... "You have had months to prepare for this upcoming event.""
""Can any one of you go home to your children and tell them that you did everything you could to protect their classmates, to protect their grandparents, to protect them?" "I don't think you can.""
""As of right now, I stand in front of a council of cowards," "And if you do not act, you're not just cowards. You are traitors.""
A man dressed as Batman angrily confronted Santa Clara officials during a joint City Council and Stadium Authority meeting, using public comment to condemn cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He linked concerns about ICE to recent enforcement in Minnesota that left two people dead and led to detainments of U.S. citizens and noncitizens, fueling public outcry. He noted Levi's Stadium will host Super Bowl 60 and cited ICE's known roles at past Super Bowl events as raising local safety worries. He demanded immediate formal policies barring use of city resources, data, or personnel in cooperation with ICE and accused officials of betraying residents if they fail to act.
