"If the group succeeds in forcing Indiana to publicly release records associated with all abortions performed there, abortion providers won't be facing abstract risks. Eleven abortion providers have been murdered in the U.S. since 1993, and abortion clinics continue to experience arson attacks and invasions. From 2023 to 2024, there were 37 reported cases of stalking and 38 reported cases of assault and battery against abortion providers."
An anti-choice group called "Voices for Life" is seeking to force Indiana to publicly release records associated with all abortions performed in the state, aiming to make potentially identifying details about providers and recipients available. If released, those records could expose providers and patients to concrete safety risks. Eleven abortion providers have been murdered in the U.S. since 1993, and clinics continue to face arson attacks, invasions, stalking, assault, and battery. From 2023 to 2024 there were 37 reported stalking cases and 38 reported assault and battery cases against providers. Indiana already enforces a near-total abortion ban with limited health and life exceptions, increasing risks of criminalization and delayed care.
