"I quit Palantir specifically over its work with ICE in 2019. They have committed to spending at least $10 million against me because they know I am their biggest threat in their quest for unbridled control over the American worker, over our kids' minds, climate and our utility bills. They're targeting me to make an example of me."
"I actually deeply understand the technology and I can't be dismissed as this person just doesn't understand it. If elected, he would be only the second Democrat in Congress with a computer science degree, positioning him uniquely to regulate AI effectively rather than dismiss concerns about the technology."
Alex Bores, a New York assembly member running for Congress, is being targeted by attack ads funded by Leading the Future, a super PAC backed by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Andreessen Horowitz, and other tech leaders. The PAC has raised $125 million to oppose candidates introducing AI legislation and support those favoring minimal AI regulation. Bores left Palantir in 2019 specifically due to its ICE work. He argues his tech background and computer science degree make him uniquely qualified to understand AI technology and regulate it effectively. His sponsorship of the RAISE Act, an AI transparency bill signed into law in December, prompted the industry opposition.
