Nick Reiner, 32, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents, 78-year-old actor-director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. Prosecutors added special-circumstances allegations of multiple murders and that a dangerous weapon, a knife, was used, which could increase potential penalties. Los Angeles County officials said the office has not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty. The couple was found stabbed in their Brentwood home; Nick Reiner was arrested without resistance about 14 miles away in Exposition Park. Rob Reiner was known for acting and directing; Michele Reiner was a photographer and LGBTQ+ advocate. Several fellow actors issued statements mourning them.
