"to this day still trying to understand."
"I've been to four different Games and they've been four wildly different experiences,"

Mikaela Shiffrin is the winningest Alpine skier with 108 World Cup victories, nearly two dozen more than any other skier. She maintained elite performance despite serious injury, PTSD and profound grief after her father's sudden death in 2020. She won Olympic gold in slalom in 2014 and giant slalom in 2018, but failed to medal in 2022, a result she remains unable to fully understand. At age 30, she will compete only in slalom, giant slalom and the team combined event in Cortina and enters as a strong contender, especially in slalom.
