Mark Anderson, 36, pleaded not guilty to impersonating a United States officer after allegedly trying to help Luigi Mangione escape from the Metropolitan Detention Center. Anderson reportedly presented paperwork claiming to be an FBI agent that authorized the release of a specific MDC detainee identified as Mangione. He entered his plea through a public defender while wearing khaki jail fatigues and with a shaved head. Anderson has been detained since Jan. 28 and was denied release pending trial due to a lengthy criminal record. He had traveled from Minnesota, worked at Louie & Ernie's Pizza, and carried a barbecue fork and pizza cutter in his backpack.
