"He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that really is something we're still struggling to process."
"Our dad didn't deserve this. He wasn't involved in anything, just someone going about his life. He was a father, a loved one, and a man who mattered."
"This loss was sudden, violent, and completely unexpected. One moment he was here, and the next he was gone. No warning. No chance to say goodbye. Our hearts are broken, and we're doing our best to lean on God to get through this pain."
Miguel Ramirez Rivera, 54, was fatally shot just after 3 a.m. inside Sky Market on International Boulevard, near his home. Two other men, ages 19 and 22, were also killed; the two younger men died at the scene and Ramirez Rivera died later at a hospital. About a dozen customers were inside when an argument turned physical and at least one person produced a gun and began shooting. Investigators confirmed Ramirez Rivera was not an intended target and no arrests have been made. Family members described him as a loving father and launched a fundraiser seeking $6,000 for funeral expenses.
