Ariel Vazferreira, 33, was sentenced to 25 years in Napa County Superior Court for raping a 16-year-old at her family's home on Aug. 28, 2022. A jury found him guilty of forcible rape of a minor, oral copulation of a minor, sodomy of a minor and sexual battery by restraint. Prosecutors said he confirmed how long the girl's parents would be gone before assaulting her and left shortly after. The trial began in late September 2023 with a verdict on Oct. 1. The victim described enduring long-term loss of happiness and humiliation. The district attorney called the sentence accountability and a protection measure for youth.
