Coast Guard Foundation awards scholarships to Staten Island students
"The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the Coast Guard community, announced on Wednesday that it had awarded a record 255 new scholarships in 2025. The foundation also awarded seven Fallen Heroes Scholarships to children of Coast Guard members. These scholarships benefit the children of Coast Guard members who are serving or have served in the United States Coast Guard."
""Saying yes to Coast Guard children is more than a commitment, it is a promise to stand behind a generation driven by purpose and prepared to make a meaningful difference in the world," said Susan Ludwig, president of the Coast Guard Foundation. "Building on this milestone, we are dedicated to increasing scholarship amounts and the number of recipients in the years ahead to meet the growing needs of Coast Guard families.""
The Coast Guard Foundation awarded a record 255 new scholarships in 2025 and granted seven Fallen Heroes Scholarships to children of Coast Guard members. The awards support children of active or former United States Coast Guard personnel. Three Staten Island students received scholarships: siblings Aidan and Liam Farmer and Connor Goodwin. Aidan received the Crowley Scholarship for a second year while studying chemical engineering at Rowan University. Liam received a Coast Guard Foundation scholarship to pursue aviation at Bowling Green State University. Connor received a Coast Guard Foundation scholarship. Recipients reported that the aid reduced financial worries and allowed greater focus on studies.
