Can you guess Americans' most-used social media site? It's not Facebook, IG or TikTok
"Though it's a little bit different than platforms where all users have profiles and post their own content, the most-visited social media site in the U.S. is actually YouTube. The survey of just over 5,000 U.S. adults found that 84% said they had used YouTube, the highest amount of any platform. For context, the next-highest percentage, (71%) goes to Facebook. These two platforms dominate social media usage, per the survey, with about half of U.S. adults saying they visit YouTube and/or Facebook daily."
"Meanwhile, some smaller/newer social media sites showed some adult user respondents, too. Meta's Threads, a real-time microblogging social site akin to the original Twitter, had 8% of U.S. adults say they had ever used the site. This shows the highest amount among the three smaller platforms. The other two are Twitter-founder Jack Dorsey's Bluesky, also a real-time microblogging site akin to the original Twitter, (4% of U.S. adults), and President Donald Trump's Truth Social (3% U.S. adults)."
A survey of just over 5,000 U.S. adults found 84% had used YouTube, the highest of any platform, while 71% had used Facebook. About half of U.S. adults report visiting YouTube and/or Facebook daily, making them the dominant social platforms. Smaller or newer platforms show limited adult reach: Threads at 8%, Bluesky at 4%, and Truth Social at 3%. Platform usage skews by age: Facebook’s user base is older (strongest among 30–49 and 65+), while adults under 30 are more likely to use Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Reddit and YouTube. Sixty-eight percent of 18–29 year-olds report using Facebook.
