Brian Walshe murder trial verdict: Are you surprised?
"Let's not lose sight of the fact that Ana's three young children will be without a mother,"
"And especially at this difficult time of year, ... we all wish them a bright future going ahead."
Brian Walshe was unanimously convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his wife Ana, who disappeared on January 1, 2023. The conviction was notable as a first-degree murder verdict in which the victim's body was never found. Walshe previously pleaded guilty to willfully misleading a police investigation and unlawfully conveying away a human body or remains; all charges will be considered at sentencing. Prosecutors interviewed sixty witnesses and conducted extensive searches of dumpsters, transfer stations, landfills, stores, and other locations to gather evidence. Massachusetts law mandates life imprisonment without parole for first-degree murder.
