Blue Jays' George Springer wins 2025 Silver Slugger Award as DH
"On Friday, the 2025 Louisville Silver Slugger Award winners from the American League were revealed, as announced through a partnership with FanSided, with George Springer taking home hardware at the designated hitter position. He was also nominated as an outfielder, but lost out to the trio of Aaron Judge, Riley Greene and Bryon Buxton. This is Springer's third career Silver Slugger Award, following wins in 2017 and '19, both coming with the Houston Astros."
"The 36-year-old slugger's 166 wRC+ (100 league average) finished third in the majors, behind only Shohei Ohtani (172) and Judge (204) - the two MVP front-runners in their respective leagues. Despite starting 82 of his 140 games played at DH and enduring the worst defensive performance of his career, Springer still accounted for 5.2 fWAR - the second-highest rating of his 12 MLB seasons, and good for eighth among qualified AL hitters."
George Springer captured the 2025 American League Silver Slugger Award at the designated hitter position. Springer previously won Silver Sluggers in 2017 and 2019, making this his third career trophy. He compiled 32 home runs and 84 RBIs, both team highs as a Blue Jay and his best since 2019. He posted career highs in batting average (.309) and on-base percentage (.399) and a .560 slugging percentage. Springer's 166 wRC+ ranked third in the majors, and he produced 5.2 fWAR despite limited defensive value, starting 82 of 140 games at DH.
