Authorities seize $40M worth of motorcycles tied to ex-Olympian turned alleged drug kingpin
"Mexican authorities have seized a large number of motorcycles believed to be owned by a fugitive on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list -- Ryan James Wedding, an alleged drug kingpin and former Canadian Olympic snowboarder. The motorcycles have an estimated value of approximately $40 million. Wedding is accused of running a criminal enterprise that has smuggled six metric tons of cocaine a year into Los Angeles via semitrucks from Mexico."
"In a press conference earlier this month, FBI Director Kash Patel described Wedding as a "modern-day iteration of Pablo Escobar" or "El Chapo" Guzman. "Ryan Wedding has orchestrated murders against his rivals, against cooperating witnesses, against anybody that crosses his path," said Akil Davis, the assistant director in charge of the FBI in Los Angeles."
Mexican authorities executed multiple search warrants and seized dozens of motorcycles believed to belong to fugitive Ryan James Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder and alleged drug kingpin, with an estimated value of approximately $40 million. Authorities allege Wedding ran a criminal enterprise that smuggled about six metric tons of cocaine per year into Los Angeles via semitrucks from Mexico and moved billions of dollars worth of narcotics. U.S. law enforcement placed a $15 million reward for information leading to his arrest or conviction and says Wedding orchestrated murders. The operation involved the FBI, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Mexican authorities, and Los Angeles police, and the FBI previously seized a rare $13 million Mercedes as part of the manhunt.
