"If I said to you that Swans were being eaten in royal parks and carps were being taken out of ponds and eaten in this country from people with different cultures. Would you agree that is happening?"
"People who come from countries where it is acceptable to do so."
"We've not had any incidents reported to us of people killing or eating swans in London's eight Royal Parks. Our wildlife officers work closely with the Swan Sanctuary to ensure the welfare of the swans across the parks."
Nigel Farage said there is "some truth" in Donald Trump's 2024 claim that illegal migrants from Haiti have been eating domestic pets. Farage offered an example asking whether swans in royal parks and carps taken from ponds have been eaten by people from different cultures. He suggested responsibility lies with people who come from countries where such practices are deemed acceptable and referenced Romanians and eastern Europeans as possibilities. A Royal Parks charity spokesperson said no incidents of people killing or eating swans have been reported in London's eight Royal Parks and noted cooperation with the Swan Sanctuary to protect swan welfare.
