Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans described the charges as 'extremely serious' and said the force will be 'relentless' in its pursuit of anyone threatening the safety of the public."
Two men, Nematollah Shahsavani and Alireza Farasati, have been charged under the National Security Act for allegedly assisting a foreign intelligence service linked to Iran. The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Policing unit investigated suspected surveillance activities targeting locations and individuals connected to London's Jewish community. Both men were charged with engaging in contact likely to assist the Iranian intelligence service between July and August 2025. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans emphasized the seriousness of the charges and committed to relentless pursuit of threats to public safety. The two defendants are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court, while two other arrested individuals were released without charge.
