Gary Lorenc used the X handle 'Bootneck77' and resigned from Bedfordshire Police days before a gross‑misconduct hearing. The hearing found breaches of professional standards including authority respect and courtesy, equality and diversity, orders and instructions, and discreditable conduct. The panel heard he shared discriminatory posts, political views and abusive messages to serving MPs during 2023 and 2024. Examples included misgendering a pregnant trans man, a post threatening to stop trans people entering women's changing rooms, responding "Good boy" to a video of a dog defecating on a Pride flag, and racist and politically charged insults. The hearing took place at Lysander House in Tempsford on 2 February; Lorenc did not attend.
