Havering marked Armed Forces Day 2025 with a parade in Romford that included serving troops, veterans, and local residents, highlighting community support for the armed forces. The Royal British Legion Drum & Corps band performed during the event, and the festivities culminated in the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by Havering Council and NHS North East London Integrated Care Board. This covenant emphasizes the commitment to ensure no service member faces disadvantages in society due to their service, promoting solidarity within the community.
The parade started at 10.30am at the corner of South Street and Arcade Place, and finished outside Havering Town Hall.
Hundreds of residents joined in the celebrations, which included the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant.
This was signed by Havering Council, together with NHS North East London Integrated Care Board, and promises that no member of the armed forces community should face disadvantage.
As well as inspecting the air cadet and army cadets, Mayor of Havering Councillor Sue Ospreay also spoke with veterans.
