Southwest VP responds to 'suggested improvements' from travelers
"Many complaints came from passengers in the new extra-legroom seats at the front of the aircraft, who said earlier-boarding passengers were stowing their bags in the overhead bins there, even though they weren't sitting in that section. In an email to customers, Southwest Executive Vice President Tony Roach said that during March, the airline will be adding signs to those extra-legroom bins to reserve them for Customers sitting in those rows."
Southwest Airlines has announced operational adjustments in response to customer dissatisfaction with its assigned seating implementation that began in January. The airline is adding signage to overhead bins designated for extra-legroom seat passengers to prevent other boarding groups from using that storage space. Southwest Executive Vice President Tony Roach confirmed these changes will roll out during March. Additionally, the airline is refining how boarding groups are assigned to create better-balanced distributions. These modifications directly address complaints from premium seat customers whose overhead bin access was compromised by earlier-boarding passengers.
