Blue Jays prospect Gage Stanifer earns first win with Double-A New Hampshire
"The increase in contact and walks has Stanifer's WHIP at 1.77. As Stanifer progresses through the farm system, the competition is going to get better, and it will be on the Jays' right-hander to adjust and adapt. There is still a lot of time left in the campaign for the Indiana product to turn things around and find that same excitement that had him stand out last year."
Gage Stanifer showed major pitching development in 2025, moving from Single-A Dunedin to Double-A New Hampshire. He made two starts with New Hampshire after beginning the year in Dunedin, and he later started the 2026 season in New Hampshire. In his first May outing, he earned his first Double-A win by throwing five scoreless innings against the Portland Sea Dogs, allowing four hits and two walks. He recorded a 57.3% strike rate, eight swing-and-miss swings, and three strikeouts. In 2026, his results have declined across six starts, with a 6.08 ERA and 5.11 FIP over 23 2/3 innings. His strikeout rate remains strong, but his command has worsened, with 18 walks and a 6.9 BB/9. Opponents are hitting more effectively, raising his WHIP to 1.77.
