Blue Jays' prospect Arjun Nimmala collects a coule of firsts at the Double-A level
"Arjun Nimmala is picking up where he left off, as he quickly collected his first multi-hit game and his first RBI as a member of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, after his promotion on May 2nd. In High-A Vancouver this year, he appeared in 23 games before earning a promotion to Double-A, slashing .241/.362/.483 with an .845 OPS while driving in 20 runs and hitting four home runs. The 20-year-old shortstop was tied for first in the Northwest League with nine doubles and tied for third with four homers and 20 RBIs."
"Since the promotion, he has collected seven hits across his first four games (through May 9) while also driving in a pair of runs early on. The single which drove in his first Double-A RBI came scorching off the bat at 106 mph. Along with being on the prowl offensively, he's also shone defensively. Playing up the middle, the 20-year-old ranged to his right to stab at a groundball in the hole, threw across his body, and got the runner at 1st for Gage Stanifer, leaving runners on the corners."
"Nimmala, selected first overall in 2023 by the Blue Jays, spent 2025 in Vancouver. He was red-hot in the first half, but tapered off in the second. He finished the season hitting .181 with just two homers in the back half, but that came after hitting for an OPS of .846 with 11 homers. Along with 13 home runs on the season, he also drove in 61 runs. While he struggled at times against sliders away during his High-A season, he showed improved plate discipline and continued offensive upside for his age."
Arjun Nimmala has adjusted smoothly to Double-A after a May 2 promotion, collecting his first multi-hit game and first RBI with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In High-A Vancouver, he played 23 games before the move, posting a .241/.362/.483 slash line with an .845 OPS, 20 RBIs, and four home runs. He ranked among league leaders with nine doubles, four homers, and 20 RBIs. After the promotion, he recorded seven hits in his first four games and drove in two runs, including a 106 mph RBI single. He also made a defensive play ranging to his right, throwing across his body to get a runner at first.
