Nobody Wants This Season 2 introduces Leighton Meester in Episode 5 (Oct. 3) as Abby Kaplan, an Instagram momfluencer known as @abbylovessmoothies. Joanne (Kristen Bell) resents Abby for loving her family "too much" and for once cutting a Felicity American Girl doll's hair in middle school. Noah is enlisted to perform a brit bat, or baby-naming ritual, for Abby's daughter Afternoon and brings Joanne for an awkward yet cathartic reunion. Co-showrunner Jenni Konner suggested Meester after seeing her at the SAG Awards, and scenes were adjusted to increase screen time with Adam Brody; Meester added improvisational touches during rehearsals.
