After Google ended a long-standing pledge not to develop AI-powered weapons and surveillance tools in February 2025, the engineer signed a petition urging reversal. The engineer alleges human resources actively discouraged communications criticizing the AI principles change or linking Google to Gaza conduct. After further distribution of flyers and posters, Google dismissed the engineer. The claim alleges unfair dismissal, discrimination based on belief, and whistleblowing detriment tied to genocide prevention legal obligations.
"Following this, the engineer was called into a meeting with Google's human resources department, where they were "actively discouraged" from making any communications that either criticised the change to Google's AI principles, or linked the company to Israel's conduct in Gaza."
