Transfer Update: Kim Min-jae not leaving Bayern Munich this winter
"Center-back Kim Min-jae is one player whose future is uncertain at Bayern and the South Korean international's minutes have been directly impacted by the signing of Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window. So far this season, he's made a total of seventeen appearances across all competitions, the majority of which have been appearances off of the bench. Vincent Kompany's preferred starting pairing at center-back has been Tah alongside Dayot Upamecano."
"Despite Kim having to play third fiddle behind Tah and Upamecano, as per information from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, there is no chance of the South Korean defender making a move during the winter transfer window, even with interest from several clubs. Fenerbahçe is said to have shown interest in him as well as a handful of Italian clubs in Serie A."
Kim Min-jae has seen his playing time reduced at Bayern following the summer arrival of Jonathan Tah, with Tah and Dayot Upamecano forming Vincent Kompany's preferred centre-back pairing. Kim has made seventeen appearances this season, mostly as a substitute. Several clubs, including Fenerbahçe and some Serie A sides, have shown interest, but Kim is rejecting approaches and plans to remain at Bayern until at least the end of the current season. Kim's contract runs until June 2028 and his market value has dropped to about €25 million from €60 million when Bayern signed him.
