Norway beat Estonia 4-1 in their penultimate World Cup qualifying match, with Alexander Sorloth and Erling Haaland each scoring twice in the second half. Norway sit three points clear of Italy with a +17 goal difference, meaning Italy would require a 9-0 win at San Siro to deny Norway qualification. The result puts Norway virtually assured of their first major tournament since Euro 2000 and their first World Cup since 1998. Manager Stale Solbakken said the long drought and the failure to qualify for Euro 2024 imposed heavy psychological strain.
