"Of course, we look at every sponsor we take on. But we cannot, will not, and do not want to answer geopolitical questions that are the responsibility of politicians."
"an ideal fit for our club's family of partners"
Bayern Munich approved a new sponsorship deal with Emirates, described as a 'platinum contract' and endorsed by deputy CEO Michael Diederich as an ideal partner. Club president Herbert Hainer dismissed criticism from member Michael Ott as self-seeking and urged restraint from German finger-pointing, arguing the club needs international partners and financial resources. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen mocked Ott at the AGM and said the club will not answer geopolitical questions reserved for politicians. Ott previously pushed to end ties with Qatar Airways at a chaotic 2021 AGM; the Qatar partnership later ended in 2023. Emirates already sponsors several major European clubs and the FA Cup.
