Former West Ham boss Graham Potter open to vacant Sweden job
"I'm actually in Sweden right now, in my house in Sweden. I'm between jobs and just left the Premier League. I'm open to anything, really, where I feel I can help. The job as head coach of the Swedish national team is fantastic. I have feelings for Sweden. I love the country and I love Swedish football. I have a lot to be grateful for towards Swedish football. So yes, it would be a fantastic opportunity for me, obviously."
"Jon Dahl Tomasson was relieved of his duties as Sweden boss on Tuesday following the team's poor start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. With two World Cup qualifying group games remaining, Sweden are on the brink of elimination. Despite boasting the likes of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres in their ranks, they are six points behind Kosovo in second and so, barring a remarkable set of results, will not be appearing at next summer's showpiece event."
Graham Potter has expressed interest in becoming Sweden head coach and called the role a fantastic opportunity. He is currently in Sweden and between jobs after being sacked by West Ham following eight months in charge. Potter previously managed Östersunds for seven years, guiding them to three promotions, a Svenska Cupen win and a 2017/18 Europa League knockout stage. Sweden dismissed Jon Dahl Tomasson after a poor start to 2026 World Cup qualifying and sit bottom of Group B with one point from four games. With two qualifying matches remaining and six points behind Kosovo, Sweden face likely elimination despite players such as Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.
