""Thanksgiving is kind of the first big week for Tahoe so with that you can see Truckee is going to start getting really busy, beds will start filling up, restaurants will be bustling, and that's when a lot of these ski resorts always plan their projected opening day - and if you look around the lake its anywhere from this week to next week," said Tucker Norred, Boreal Mountain Resort Marketing Director."
Several storms dumped several feet of snow across the Sierra Nevada, jump-starting the Lake Tahoe ski season. Ski resorts are gearing up to open for the 2024-25 season and are projecting opening dates based on current snowpack and weather. Thanksgiving week typically marks the start of heavy visitor activity in Truckee, with lodging and restaurants filling and resorts aligning opening plans to that demand. Boreal, Heavenly, Northstar, Sugar Bowl and some others are projected to open November 21. Soda Springs and Sierra at Tahoe are projected November 28. Other resorts, including Kirkwood, Diamond Peak, Homewood and Tahoe Donner, have projected openings in December.
