"On June 2, after less than a year with Alan Wong as their mayorally-appointed supervisor, Sunset voters can take to the polls and vote on whether they want to keep Wong on through the end of 2026, or go with someone else. In the Nov. 3 general election, the voters of the Sunset will get the chance to weigh in yet again - this time concerning who will be District 4's supervisor from Jan. 2027 through the end of 2030."
"The next district supervisor, appointed by Mayor Daniel Lurie in November, was a music teacher and former pet shop owner with no prior political experience. After she turned out to have been poorly vetted and resigned, the mayor's office released a shortlist of possible replacements, which included three of the five candidates in this race, Wong, Natalie Gee and Albert Chow."
Five candidates have filed to run for District 4 supervisor in the Sunset, and a weekly Meet the Candidates series will publish each candidate's 100-word answer to a posed question. Voters will decide on June 2 whether to retain mayorally-appointed Alan Wong through 2026, and again on Nov. 3 to choose the supervisor for 2027–2030. Former supervisor Joel Engardio was recalled months earlier. A November mayoral appointee with no political experience resigned after poor vetting, prompting a shortlist that included Wong, Natalie Gee and Albert Chow. Candidates were asked their top issue and plan. A candidate states a top priority as providing the district with real representation and leadership.
