Six factors were analyzed for each state: population and percentage of single people, average date cost and availability of bars and restaurants, documented online interest in dating, and per-capita spending on dating apps. Data points were combined into a Dating Difficulty Index scored from 0 to 100, where higher numbers indicate greater difficulty finding dates. Utah ranked most difficult with a score of 98.89 and metrics including a 44.7% single population, $121 average date cost, four bars per 100K people, 101 restaurants per 100K, $0.33 dating-app spending per capita, and 2,138 dating searches per 100K. Other high-difficulty states included Washington, Maine, Idaho, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Hawaii, Virginia, and New Jersey. Low-difficulty examples included Rhode Island (score 0), South Dakota, Louisiana, and New York.
