Since its launch in 2000, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, has administered 1.9 billion vaccines and reached over a billion children, leading to a near halving of global infant-mortality rates. This public health organization has prevented countless deaths and strengthened health services, particularly in remote areas. However, recent political actions in the U.S. threaten future funding, as messages surrounding vaccine safety continue to be misrepresented, distracting from the original challenges of vaccine scarcity in low-income nations and overshadowing Gavi's successes.
I can't imagine a more successful, cost-effective public-health organization than the Gavi alliance... they got it down to less than fifty thousand deaths.
An enormous amount of energy has gone into grossly misleading 'debates' about vaccine safety and effectiveness... The problem that led to Gavi's formation was not skepticism but scarcity.
