"Effectively immediately, all Flock cameras in (Los Altos Hills) will go offline. Town staff is currently in the process of getting the Flock cameras taken down,"
"We no longer receive (automated license plate reader) data from Los Altos Hills' 31 Flock Safety cameras or have access to any data from Los Altos Hills,"
"I'm against sharing information with ICE in any way that's weaponized against our immigrant communities,"
Santa Clara County officials expressed distrust of Flock Safety over reports that its license‑plate readers are being accessed by federal immigration authorities. Flock Safety sold dozens of cameras to the county Sheriff's Office and those cameras were deployed along roadways in Saratoga, Cupertino and Los Altos Hills. San Jose and other county cities maintain agreements with Flock. District 2 Supervisor Betty Duong moved to delay renewal of a camera use policy to allow further review of how data are being used. Santa Cruz and Los Altos Hills severed ties and took cameras offline, cutting sheriff access to local data. Concerns center on sharing data with ICE and the potential weaponization against immigrant communities.
