Ravens' Loop: Knew kick was no-good on contact
"For it to end like that sucks, and I want to do better. Unfortunately, the nature of the job is you have makes, and those are awesome, and unfortunately, you have misses, and for that to happen tonight sucks."
"The second it made contact with my foot, I felt it lower. We talk about hitting on the fourth lace of the shoe. It felt a little lower down the foot and hit it thin."
"I couldn't even remember. It just sucks."
The Steelers defeated the Ravens 26-24, clinching the AFC North and ending Baltimore's season. Rookie kicker Tyler Loop missed a 44-yard potential game-winning field goal wide right as time expired. Loop had made 30 of 33 field-goal attempts this season (90%) and faced his first game-winning attempt. Next Gen Stats estimated a 79% chance of making the 44-yarder. Lamar Jackson's 26-yard fourth-and-7 pass to Isaiah Likely put Baltimore on Pittsburgh's 24 with 14 seconds remaining, and Jackson knelt to move the ball to the center before the kick. Loop said he mishit the ball, feeling it lower on his foot.
