International model hits out at homophobic and transphobic harassment during photoshoot in Dublin
"It was man after man, who were either driving by, walking by or biking by and they couldn't help but say something. There was a 16-year-old kid who walked by right in front of one of our cameras, who said 'gay boy'. And of course, flipped off the camera and shouted out as he continued to walk down the street."
"And then we had a cab driver as well, who yelled out the window, 'pedo' and 'fag' and things of that nature. We also had a person who was biking by and they yelled out 'back in the closet'."
"However, Dove felt surprised that this could happen in Ireland. They were most concerned for the well-being of their photoshoot team, who are all part of LGBTQ+ community."
Rain Dove, a 36-year-old androgynous model, experienced verbal harassment during a photoshoot in Dublin. Men aged 16 to 60 shouted homophobic and transphobic insults, mistaking Dove's appearance for that of a transgender woman. Despite being a prominent figure in fashion, Dove expressed surprise at the hostility encountered in Ireland. The model has faced similar abuse in the UK and US, raising concerns for the safety of their LGBTQ+ team during the incident.
