MSPCA holding 'emergency adoption event' following surrender of 140+ animals
"In both cases, we had probable cause to believe that animal cruelty laws were being violated,"
"When we arrived, we saw that the animals were living in unsanitary conditions. Some did not have adequate access to food and water."
"we really need adopters to come out and give any of the animals in our care - but especially dogs - a happy home to ensure that we'll be able to say yes the next time that an animal needs help,"
"Every kennel that opens when a dog is adopted is another space we can use to help an animal in need,"
The MSPCA-Angell took in 149 animals surrendered from two law enforcement cases, prompting an emergency adoption event. Twenty-six animals were seized from a Winchendon property, including 24 dogs and two cats; seven puppies were later born in foster care. One hundred sixteen animals, mostly farm birds, were removed from a Plympton property and surrendered in court. Over the last three months the MSPCA has taken in 245 seized animals, including nearly 40 dogs. All four Massachusetts MSPCA locations will host a two-day pay-what-you-can dog adoption to rehome dogs and fund future rehoming.
