Bruins notebook: Jonathan Aspirot putting in the work
""There are guys when they play a game or two, they breathe (easy). I don't see that in him," said Sturm. "We had just a few guys out (on the ice) and he was ready to go on. And I was like 'No, take your time. Get your rest.' He deserved that day off. But he just showed me he doesn't want to give it up right now. And good for him.""
""He never really shows up in a bad way, because of his skating mobility and his core - he's very, very strong and thick - he closes a lot quicker than other guys. And he competes. I give him that. He competes hard and he fights for his job every day and that's really what I like about him," said Sturm."
""I wasn't really thinking about that. I was just enjoying my time. When I got sent down, I was happy to go down and keep working hard every day," said Aspirot."
Jonathan Aspirot received an optional-practice rest but repeatedly showed readiness and commitment when asked to take the ice. Marco Sturm praised Aspirot's relentless competitiveness, skating mobility, physical strength, and quick closing ability. Aspirot signed a one-year, $775,000 contract and had a strong training camp before being among the last cuts. He was called up and slotted on the third pairing alongside Henri Jokiharju. The Bruins were 4-0 with Aspirot in the lineup going into the next game against Ottawa. Aspirot emphasized enjoying opportunities and continuing to work hard each day.
