Baker Mayfield was claimed off waivers by the Rams on Dec. 6, 2022, to replace injured Matthew Stafford and started with only two days of practice. He led the Rams to a Thursday Night Football victory over the Raiders and finished five starts that season, which jump-started his career. The Buccaneers signed him to a one-year deal in 2023 and he led them to the NFC divisional round. In 2024 he signed a three-year contract with $55 million guaranteed and up to $100 million. Rams coach Sean McVay praised his spark and mental stamina. Mayfield is 30 with 17 touchdowns and three interceptions this season as the Buccaneers sit 6-4.
