NFL Owner Slams His Own Team's Starting Quarterback in Shocking Rant: If We Could Just Complete a Pass'
"New York Jets owner Woody Johnson trashed starting quarterback Justin Fields on Tuesday while talking about his team's disastrous start to the 2025 season. Fields had yet another poor performance in the Jets' game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The fifth year QB went into halftime having completed 6 of 12 passes for just 46 yards and head coach Aaron Glenn apparently had enough of Fields that day, bringing in veteran backup Tyrod Taylor to finish the rest of the game."
"Well, it looks like [Glenn's] turning around parts of it. You know, it's hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that we've got. I mean, he has the ability, but something just is not jiving. But if you look at any head coach of the quarterback like that, you're gonna see similar results if you go across the league. You have to play consistently at that position, and that's what we're going to try to do for the remainder of the season."
Woody Johnson criticized Justin Fields following the New York Jets' poor start to the 2025 season. Fields completed 6 of 12 passes for 46 yards by halftime against the Carolina Panthers, prompting coach Aaron Glenn to replace him with veteran Tyrod Taylor, who finished the game. The Jets lost 13-6 and fell to 0-7, the worst record in the league. Johnson blamed inconsistent quarterback play and emphasized the need for consistency at the position. ESPN reported Glenn is leaning toward naming Taylor the starter, and Johnson said the quarterback decision is completely up to the coach.
