Nearly 800 rabbis from across the nation condemned Democratic NYC mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani's rhetoric about Israel and Zionism as dangerous. The 788 signatories, most from outside New York, included prominent NYC rabbis Joshua Davidson and David Gelfand. The rabbis argued Mamdani has fueled antisemitism by accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza and, for a time, declining to condemn the phrase globalize the intifada. The action was organized by the Jewish Majority, led by Jonathan Schulman of AIPAC. Mamdani denied fomenting antisemitism and pledged to boost funding for hate crime prevention programs nearly nine-fold as mayor.
