Trans flags left at Stonewall monument in defiance of Trump administration ban
Briefly

In response to the Trump administration's directive to allow only the traditional rainbow flag at the Stonewall National Monument, visitors are placing trans flags at the site in an act of defiance. The decision follows the administration's previous actions to erase references to trans and non-binary people from the monument's website. Steven Love Menendez, the creator of the installation, expressed disappointment over being labeled as only an LGB activist, while Jay Edinin emphasized the importance of maintaining visibility and acknowledging history for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly trans individuals.
Menendez said: "It's a terrible action to take. I used to be listed as an LGBTQ activist, and now it says, 'Steven Menendez, LGB activist'. They took out the Q and the T."
One of the people to bring a banned flag, Jay Edinin, stated: "I'm not going to stand by and watch us be erased from our own history, from our own communities, and from the visibility that we desperately need right now."
